Winter is for building
From our newsletter, February 2026 ("How to Start 2026 on a Strong Stance")

Winter is for building, so this month we've been making some updates on the bike to get ready for riding again, and integrating a new safety system for testing this spring! We demoed a few different GPS and mechano-electric speedometers and decided on a mechanical unit pulled from a Virago 535. It needs a housing, and that will clean up the front of the bike a lot, along with a different headlight mount.
You could never build like this in Europe, pulling the odometer from one motorcycle for another. That's why the American motorcycle market is the leader for custom motorcycles built by craftsfolk from all walks of life.
Our patented aftermarket solution for converting motorcycles from gas to electric is meant to support these weekend builders and customizers, so everything about their bike can still be changed, except the oil 🤣
Creating a smartphone app for Shandoka

We had a spectacular time at Industry Day with Detroit's College for Creative Studies, talking with so many brilliant students designing for the future, right now. Shandoka is sponsoring a group of these fine students on a UX design project focused on motorcycling culture and improved safety awareness.
Safety is the number one thing motorcyclists are concerned with, even if the rest of the world thinks we're being dangerous. So, how do you integrate technology in a way that enhances safety without unnecessary distraction? That's what the design group is challenged with, and we can't wait to see what they come up with.
