10 days of all-day motorcycle
The most widely known predictor of an early spring is the film-famous groundhog Punxsutawney Phil. But for those who ride motorcycles, we don't wait for spring: we make it happen!
Every year without fail, 500,000 motorcyclists converge on Daytona Beach, Florida to celebrate the mechanical horse and everything about it. For Shandoka, it's a great moment to connect with fans, and skeptics, of electric motorcycles.
We met people from the entire eastern USA, in fact the whole world, excited at what we're doing and ready to get their Shandoka motorcycle. And we also did something that had been on our bucket list for a long time: put our motorcycle on a dyno and measure it.

Dyno testing our custom build "MidKnight"
So far, we had field-tested the Shandoka system in our custom Yamaha XS400 for about 900 miles before heading to Daytona. Running in the wild put the top speed at 85 mph sustained, but that always had wind turbulence and the rider stuck on top!
When a portable dyno showed up just 75 feet away from our tent, we knew it was time to test MidKnight on a machine. Thanks to our custom swingarm we could fit: the wheelbase is one inch longer than the minimum for the mounting tray.
With a fully charged battery, MidKnight was rolled up the ramp and strapped in place. Cameras started, computer log ready, and let it rip!
